Course Description
This asynchronous course is designed for anyone trying to get back into writing after a long dry spell--especially for parents and caregivers whose mental demands have left little space for creativity, and who experience these dry spells cyclically, often forgetting what it even feels like to listen to your muse. It’s for people who wonder, “Can I even do this again?"
The course consists of part pep-talk (relying on the work of authors focused on the creative process); part discussion of strategies based on experience as a “self-taught” poet, plus the science of left-right brain function; part writing prompts.
Course materials include videos, resource list, and downloadable writing prompts. Sessions I-II are made up of two 30 min-1hr videos, followed by brief writing exercises. Session III consists of five 30 min-1 hr guided writing prompts, spread over several days, to build up to a draft in a way that fits into a busy schedule.
